Low volume CNC machining-

Low Volume CNC Machining

Low-volume CNC machining is a great way to move from prototyping to mass production for new products. With KUSLA, the process is simple, efficient, and affordable, helping you scale production quickly while keeping high quality.

Our CNC Machining Capabilities

CNC turning

CNC TURNING

CNC truning is primarily used for creating symmetrical parts with external contours, it is ideal for producing components like axles, bearings, and bushings.

CNC milling

CNC MILLING

CNC milling can produce complex geometries, flat surfaces, slots, pockets, and contours on various materials include both plastic and metal materials.

5-axis CNC machining

5-AXIS MILLING

5-Axis Milling is great for the production of parts with high precision and complex shapes that were previously difficult to achieve.

CNC Machining Materials

CNC Plastic Machining

More than 30 engineering-grade materials can be used for CNC plastic machining. The machined plastic parts are 100% functional and able to be mechanically tested.

  • ABS
  • Acrylic
  • Polycarbonate (PC)
  • PA(Nylon)
  • POM(Acetal / Delrin)
  • PP
  • PEEK
  • Carbon Fiber

CNC Metal Machining

Our high power capacity and the rigidity of modern machine tools ensure that almost any kind of metal material can be machined.

CNC Machining Tolerances

cnc Prototyping Precision and Accuracy

KUSLA follows ISO 2768 standards for tolerances: medium for plastic parts and fine for metal parts. We typically achieve tolerances between ±0.005″ (±0.125mm) and ±0.002″ (±0.05mm). For tighter tolerances, a detailed 2D drawing is required. Our engineering team will work with you to ensure critical dimensions meet the highest precision standards.

What Is CNC Machining?

CNC machining, or Computer Numerical Control machining, is a manufacturing process where computers control machines to create parts from materials like metal or plastic. The process uses high-speed cutting tools to shape the material based on a digital design.

CNC machines come in different types, such as 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling machines, lathes, and routers. These machines work in various ways: the cutting tool may move while the material stays still, the material may move while the tool stays still, or both the tool and the material may move at the same time. This level of precision and automation makes CNC machining ideal for creating detailed and accurate parts efficiently.

Advantages of CNC machining

1

Precision and Accuracy

CNC machines are known for their ability to produce parts with high precision and accuracy. The computer-controlled nature of CNC machining ensures that the final product closely matches the design specifications.
2

Material Versatility

CNC machining can work with a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, and composites. This versatility allows designers and engineers to prototype parts using materials that are most suitable for their intended function.
3

Efficiency and Speed

By automating the machining process, CNC technology reduces the time required to produce prototypes. This speed is particularly beneficial for projects with tight deadlines or for those in the early stages of product development.
4

Consistency

CNC machines can produce multiple copies of the same part with a high degree of consistency. This is crucial for testing and validation purposes, as it ensures that each prototype performs as expected.
5

Complex Geometry Capabilities

CNC machining is capable of creating parts with complex geometries that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional manual methods. This allows for innovation in product development.

6

Cost-Effectiveness

While the initial setup for CNC machining may involve some costs, the efficiency and speed of the process can lead to cost savings, especially when prototyping in small batches.

Finishing Options for CNC Machining

  • As Machined: The part is left with the surface it has after machining.
  • Bead Blasting: Tiny glass beads are blasted onto the part to create a smooth, matte finish.
  • Anodizing: A process that makes the surface more resistant to rust and can add color.
  • Powder Coating: Dry powder is applied and heated to form a strong, protective coating.
  • Plating: A thin metal layer, like zinc or nickel, is added to the surface for protection or looks.
  • Brushed Finish: A brush is used to create a uniform linear texture on the surface.
  • Polished Finish: The surface is polished to make it shiny and reflective.
  • Electropolishing: The surface is cleaned and smoothed using an electrical process.
